As an exercise in UX writing and UI design, I was asked to design three pages for a mobile application.
Timeline: 48 Hours
Project Scenario:
"A user has just downloaded an app for high net worth individuals. The app offers user-specific travel and dining recommendations based on company data, various geo-located benefits exclusive to cardholders, and competitive pricing deals when you book trips and experiences through the app."
The Challenge:
"Write three introductory screens for mobile that communicate the app’s value proposition in an elegant and effective manner. (Feel free to take creative liberties when imagining what some of the specific offerings could be.)"
AUDIENCE: I assumed that themes like novelty, exclusivity, and rewards were important to this audience. I adjusted my writing and design decisions to reflect these themes.
VOICE & TONE: I wanted this to read like a classic print ad revived for the digital age. Since this is ultimately a call to action spread over three screens, I mapped out the progression
Your Experiences > Your Benefits > Your Savings > Register
while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
VISUAL DESIGN: I was inspired by the Instagram 'image-first' design language. Incorporating this into the UI, I selected free stock images with relevant themes, then developed content to complement each image. Using Adobe Illustrator, I designed UI elements like the logo and interactive elements. The final screens were designed in Adobe Photoshop.
